My internet access goes straight into a Comcast News page. I know that I can easily change it, but I kind of like seeing what the tapioca news is like first off.
Today - a criticism of Bush - if tepid on the summary page, but much more direct if you click on the story - and this is the No. 1 story for them:
"Bush echoes LBJ Speech of '67?" The article head drops the question mark, and points out what has been obvious to the left for about 2 years - Bush sounds like LBJ because Iraq sounds like Vietnam.
"America is committed to the defense of South Vietnam until an honorable peace can be negotiated," Johnson told the Tennessee Legislature on March 15, 1967. Despite the obstacles to victory, the president said, "We shall stay the course."
After 14 Marines died in a roadside bombing on Aug. 3, Bush declared: "We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. And the job is this: We'll help the Iraqis develop a democracy."
Not really that remarkable, actually -- the remarkable thing is that the big, dumb media are actually picking this up!
Anyone else sensing this - that's its becoming more widely OK for even the stupid media feeling freer to cricize the W pretty directly?
